Adonis

Adonis is a Phoenician god of fertility. He was considered a good who protected people from hunger and provided them with food they received by razing different plants. In case if there were several troubles with fertility people performed their donation for Adonis. There were temples built in order to honor Adonis and donations were performed regular at least twice a year.
So, it was the Phoenician mythology Adonis appeared at first, and with the lapse of time image of Adonis was adopted by other nations and cultures. Ancient Greeks adopted the image of Adonis and provided it with peculiar history and peculiar abilities. According to mythology of ancient Greeks he was the one who was able for resurrection and he was a god of unbelievable beauty.
There was a goodness of love Aphrodite who felt in love with Adonis and that was a reason for his death. Mythology says that he was killed by wild boar during hunting. According to one theory the wild boar was a god of war Ares. He was in love with Aphrodite and so decided to kill the one who was an obstacle for him. According to another theory it was a revenge for Adonis and that revenge was performed by woman he had rejected.
Actually, Adonis is not a common god of ancient Greek mythology. According to some theories he wasn't a god at all and according to another he became a god after his death. Though, he was considered as the one who provided people with food and protected their crops against any harm. Some specialists state that he was a matter of argument for Aphrodite and another goddess.
