Artemida

Artemida is a sister of Apollo. They are twins and both of them are known by their unbelievable beauty. She was an emblematic goddess of girls' beauty for Homer and there are a lot of puffs dedicated to her. She is just as beautiful and strong as Apollo though she is a polarity for Apollo in some way. He is a symbol of sun and Artemida is symbol of moon. And moon, as you know, is a common object women are compared to.
She is a goddess of virgin girls and goddess of wedding. It was her people donated before the wedding. As a rule there were common animals for donating Artemida. Those animals are deer, bull and doe. These animals were sacrificed in honor of Artemida in order to gain her blessing and protection for new family. Though, she wasn't only a goddess of good deeds, there are myths that witness her cruelness.
Some people sacrificed humans for Artemida. It is a terrible and scarifying fact about this goddess. Though, in most cases she was considered as kind but stern goddess. She was never kind towards those who hurt animals in her forest. There was a doe, the favorite doe of Artemida and she adored it. And that doe can easily become a reason for Artemida to kill one, in case if he will hurt it.
Just like Apollo Artemida was depicted with dome and dart in her arms. Those darts could kill any person who would dare to harm her or her forest. Forest was a common place where Artemida lived and she never left that forest. Though, sometimes she was coming back to Olympus in case if there was some kind of celebration there.
