Just like Zeus Poseidon is a son of Kronos and Rea. According to one sources he was the second son of Kronos. But, there are also informational sources according to which Poseidon is a first son of Kronos.

According to Greek mythology it was Kronos and his wife those who were first settlers of Olympus. Actually, there were some other gods before them, though Kronos drove the away and proclaimed that place as his home.

Kronos

He was the one who had driven away those who lived there and proclaimed himself as the only one who is allowed to live in Olympus. So, he stayed there together with his wife Rea. Though, there was a foreseen according to which Kronos will be driven away the Olympus by his son. Since that day he ordered his wife to kill babies.

He ate all the babies he had and there was one who was saved by Rea. That one was Zeus. Rea hid him far away from Olympus and that is how he managed to survive. As Zeus grew elder he got back to Olympus and implemented the foreseen. Before he drew his father away he made him return all the babies. And that is how the most powerful gods and goddess of Olympus were set free.

Kronos was a father of Poseidon, Hades, Demeter, Zeus and Hera. Those were the gods who gave birth to all other gods and goddess of Olympus. He was a son of Gaea, and it was Gaea the one who told him about opportunity to be driven away by his son. Kronos was a god of time and agriculture. He married Rea and she was his only wife.

Though, she also had a woman he was in love with. Kronos was afraid of Rea hurting a woman he was in love with and so he saved her by turning her into a horse. After being driven out the Olympus Kronos were sent to "blissful islands" and this is where his kingdom was.
